World’s Toughest Footrace the Marathon des Sables

13 March, 2025 Events - Galway Bay Rugby, News

Our director of rugby Christian Short is taking on a phenomenal challenge, please support

I’ll be competing in the World’s Toughest Footrace the Marathon des Sables (MDS) Legendary 39th Edition, a brutal 250km ultramarathon across the Sahara Desert. Over six days, I’ll carry everything I need on my back, enduring extreme heat, exhaustion, and mental challenges. But this journey isn’t just about pushing my limits—it’s deeply personal. – Christian Short

About Joe

Joe Naughton is a Galway-based writer who spends far too much time talking about sport and not nearly enough time playing it. A firm believer that every match deserves a proper write-up, even if it was played in sideways rain in a field with no lines.
