Galway Bay Rugby, formerly known as Barna Knocknacarra Rugby Club, was established in 2007 with the mission to bring Mini Rugby to Galway City and its surrounding areas west of the Corrib.
The club’s first registration took place during the Rugby World Cup, starting with 40 players aged U9 to U12. Over the years, the club has grown significantly, and by 2025, it boasts a player base of well over 350, spanning age groups from U6 to U18.
Training sessions are held every Saturday morning from September to April at McGrath’s Field in Knocknacarra. For U6s to U9s, training runs from 10:30 to 11:30, while other age groups train from 10:30 to 12:00. The club has also expanded its facilities to include Laurel Park and Cappagh Park for youth training sessions and Dangan matches. We host the majority of our blitzes in St Mary’s College.
Galway Bay Rugby continues to foster a love for the game, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for young players to develop their skills and enjoy the sport..
